Trip Lead: Emily Bell

Join us for a leisurely one-mile stroll on the UNF Nature Trails in search of late fall-blooming terrestrial orchids.

As we walk along the banks of Lake Oneida, we’ll see Toothpetal false reinorchids (Habenaria floribunda) while looking for the more elusive Fragrant ladiestresses (Spiranthes odorata) and Hairy shadow witches (Ponthieva racemosa).

The terrain is flat in this easy-to-moderate trail, although some roots are present and some areas may be wet to muddy. Comfortable hiking shoes, sun protection, water and bug spray are recommended.

Registration is free for Florida Wildflower Foundation members and $10 for non-members. Email Rose Kinane to find out if your membership is current or needs to be renewed. To join as a member, visit www.FlaWildflowers.org/membership.
