2025 Seedlings for Schools Grant Winners

Florida Wildflower Foundation (FWF) is awarding a record-breaking 67 Seedlings for Schools grants this year. Each school will receive 30 native wildflower seedlings at the start of the 2025–26 school year. In addition, teachers will receive guidance and resources, including FWF’s Wild About Wildflowers! Activity Guide.

A key goal of this program is for teachers to incorporate the native garden into their curriculum. Eighth-grade teacher Heather Harbour, from High Springs Community School, is looking forward to her garden: “Native wildflowers support local pollinators, improve soil health and require minimal maintenance compared to non-native plants,” she explained, “making them a sustainable and visually appealing option for the school environment.”

Throughout the year, she and fellow teachers will use these gardens to share the value of Florida’s native ecology with pre-K through high school students.

Florida schools are eligible to apply annually in March and April. The Florida Wildflower Foundation provides these grants with help from sales of the Florida State Wildflower license plate.
