Email RKinane@FlaWildflowers.org to be added to the waiting list. \n\n\n\nFlorida Wildflower Foundation members get early access to field trips. Become a Florida Wildflower Foundation member today for early access! \n\n\n\nJoin the Florida Wildflower Foundation for a fall exploration of St. Sebastian River Preserve State Park\, where we’ll wander the preserve’s longleaf pine flatwoods and scrubby flatwoods in search of seasonal wildflowers\, including Pine lilies\, Chapman’s blazing star\, and other vibrant fall blooms. \n\n\n\nPark ranger Jill Cozza will lead our trip\, sharing her knowledge of the preserve and the important role prescribed fire plays in maintaining these fire-dependent habitats and supporting native wildflowers. We’ll learn more about the connection between fire\, habitat and Florida’s native plants while looking for the wildflowers that make this preserve such a special place. \n\n\n\nPlease note that sections of the hike may be wet or muddy.  \n\n\n\nRegistration is free for Florida Wildflower Foundation members and $10 for non-members. Become a Florida Wildflower Foundation member today for early access! \n\n\n\nDiscover the long-term benefits of fire on the scenic rolling sandhills and lakes of the Ordway-Swisher Biological Station in Melrose\, Florida! This 9\,600+ acre property is managed by the University of Florida for research\, education and conservation of its unique ecosystems and is not otherwise open to the public. This trip is a rare opportunity to see it firsthand! \n\n\n\nThis special tour will take us through sandhill units burned earlier this season\, and will be bursting with fall color. Conservation Steward Grace Howell will lead a guided\, open-air tram tour\, stopping along the way to admire a wide diversity of blooming grasses\, legumes\, asters and more\, all beneath a stunning canopy of Longleaf pine. Highlights include Garberia (Garberia heterophylla)\, Azure blue sage (Salvia azurea)\, Crownbeard (Verbesina heterophylla)\, fields of Summer farewell (Dalea pinnata)\, Lopsided indiangrass (Sorghastrum secundum)\, blooming Wiregrass (Aristida stricta) and other Aristida species\, and much more! \n\n\n\nNote: Neither the tram nor the trails are ADA compliant. \n\n\n\nRegistration is free for Florida Wildflower Foundation members and $10 for non-members.
