SUMMARY:WEBINAR - More Than Wildflowers: How Roadside Signs\, Stories and People Shape Support for Pollinator‑Friendly Roadsides
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Wednesday\, April 15 at 2pm for our webinar “More Than Wildflowers: How Roadside Signs\, Stories and People Shape Support for Pollinator‑Friendly Roadsides” presented by University of Florida’s Dr. Laura Warner. \n\n\n\n\n\nRegister\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPollinator‑friendly roadsides are generally experienced in passing — through a windshield\, at highway speed — making communication as important as ecological design. Drawing on peer‑reviewed research on public perceptions and communication preferences\, this talk explores public understanding and support for pollinator‑friendly roadsides and how roadside signs\, demonstration areas and strategic messaging can strengthen that support. While many people value ecological benefits\, support depends on whether messaging clearly explains purpose and addresses concerns about safety and cost. This webinar highlights evidence‑based lessons for making roadside conservation visible\, relatable and socially acceptable\, showing that successful pollinator‑friendly roadsides depend as much on people as on pollinators. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPresenter: Dr. Laura Warner\n\n\n\nDr. Laura Warner is a professor in the University of Florida Department of Agricultural Education and Communication and the Center for Land Use Efficiency. As a quantitative social scientist\, Dr. Warner specializes in understanding behavioral influences on adoption of best practices among key target audiences and translating behavioral theory into practical action. She focuses on water conservation\, pollinator protection and technology adoption in residential landscapes\, public spaces and nursery/greenhouse operations. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\nLiatris along the roadsides by Emily Bell\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis webinar will be recorded and available on our website 48 hours after the event. A link will be sent to all those who register. Only the first 500 attendees will be able to enter the webinar; if we reach capacity before you join\, you can view the recording that will be emailed to you.
