January 20 @ 9:00 am 12:00 pm

Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park, 4335 Firetower Rd, Haines City, FL 33844

Join us on Saturday January 20 at 9:00 am to explore one of Florida’s most unique habitats, the Lake Wales Ridge at Allen David Broussard Catfish Creek Preserve State Park in Polk County.

We are teaming up with the Florida Native Plant Society to learn about the ecology of the scrub and the many endemic plants that are only found in this rare environment.

The hike will be about 4 miles. Please note that scrub conditions can be somewhat difficult, and participants should be prepared for walking in soft sand and full sun exposure. Please bring plenty of water and a snack. Layered clothing, a hat, and sunscreen are also recommended.

This location is remote and there are no restrooms on site.

Registration is free.
